While we strongly support purchasing aqua cultured and tank raised tank inhabitants, we realize that there are some creatures that are necessary and desirable to the tank that cannot be acquired without taking them from the ocean. The good news is that with proper understanding of those fishes and invertebrates needs their isn’t any reason to have to continually remove them from the ocean. Proper understanding will lead to decreases in the number of creatures necessary to be removed from the ocean. We should all take pride in the longevity of our tank inhabitants and work to keep them as happy and healthy as they would be in the wild. In fact it makes me feel good to see fish in my tank that I have had for years and think I bet he would never have made it that long in the wild. That is the attitudes we want to promote. Don’t think of them as temporary accents to your exhibit, think of them as essential pieces to your living masterpiece.
